olympiaAnd for a Friday that brought the First Medal by Sakshi Malik at Olympics…..some thoughts.

I love Virendra Sehwag’s dig at all cynics who criticise our athletes/sportspersons.

“Sakshi Malik ke gale me medal Kitna ‘Sobha De‘ raha hai na”……..wow. क्या-Hinglish…

It’s not easy at the global level and let’s admit, we have never been a “Sports” supporting society. The only medals we won were in hockey, last win in 1972. Thereafter, only post 2008 we got some scope in wrestling and shooting.

We have come a long way, though, but we need to go longer. Let’s hope and pray Sindhu downs Marin today to win the Gold in Badminton and our very own Bangalorean teenager – Aditi, gets the Golf Medal.

I also salute Corporate Achievers like Ronnie Screwvala who share their wealth for Rural Sports – Swadeshi Foundation – believing that Sports Empowers and Inspires the Youth like nothing else does.

I hope more and more of our Billionaires and Super Millionaires follow the fine example of Nita Ambani. She has become the first Indian woman to be elected to the International Olympic Committee — the Supreme body for global sports.

Each one of us ……..let’s get involved in Nation Building…..in our own small way ……the SEEGOS way.
