In my second Innings with three permanent homes in Mumbai, Trivandrum and Bangalore, my vote is still in Malabar Hill Constituency -South Mumbai. Me and The Wife have never missed voting so far, but will have to skip voting tomorrow.

All Parties and all Elections are the same. Every candidate is promising, seventy years after Independence, Roti, Kapada and Makan, upliftment of Poor and more and more reservations of all types. With less and less commitment and zero productivity, the current Ruling class – Politicos, Bueurocracy, cheat businessmen and middlemen with illgotten wealth and Money Power work hard to ensure the poor are trapped in Bondage. Corruption and Raw Money Power ensures the Winnability of candidates and the most harassed are the Police and the law enforcing Agencies. I sympathise with them.

The most recent Report by SPIR – 2018 (Status of Policing in India Report ) highlights the problems. Police Reforms and granting Police independence from the clutches of the Power brokers are all languishing. Even the Supreme Court has recommended various Reforms across the Country. Plight of Women Police is even more miserable. 48 of Every 50 Police Women surveyed in MP have reported lack of Toilet facilities, seating, Resting and Work spaces. Every party in opposition promises Police Reforms and forgets as soon as in Power.

Society is you and me and everyone else around us. We have to bring in high Ethical Standards. Countries become Rich when its citizens raise the Bar on Ethical Standards. I remember my friend Eric Ben Artzi, the Risk officer of Deutsche Bank. He refused to accept 8 Mn Dollars his incentive as the Whistle blower said “that’s my job I did”. Let’s build our country with each election into a better place, the Ethical way, the Law abiding way, the SEEGOS way.
