And for a Friday of a week of holidaying in Southern Spain ….. some thoughts …. some musings ….
Whilst India is the fastest growing large economy …. Spain is the fastest growing Developed Economy currently in the World……..though Spanish population is less than 50 mn ….. the language is spoken by more than 600 mn people worldwide & is the second most spoken language after Mandarin Chinese…. showing the sway the Spanish Empire once held over Europe & the Continents ….current Spanish economy is service oriented & the largest component of their GDP is Tourism …. the economy is doing well & one of the key reasons for growth is its Immigration policy with migrants being allowed systematically from Peru, Columbia, Venezuela , Morocco etcetc…..Spain is an excellent model of how Migration well handled can energise the economy ……the boom in tourism can be gauged … small towns with population of 3 to 4 lakhs are getting 4 to 5 mn tourists & the infrastructure is unable to cope with tourists……locals are revolting against more tourists invading their privacy & peace …..an enviable yet paradoxical situation …….
A great similarity with India is the Spaniards eating habits …… unlike other Europeans in Germany , France UK etc who have their dinner by 6.30 -7.30 pm ….: Southern Spaniards dinner starts at 9 pm & goes on to 11 pm …. Breakfast is late & lunch is followed by “Siesta” ….2.30 to 5 pm ….. I loved the comfortable laid back tours to these small beautiful towns of Saville, Cordoba, Granada, Marbella & Malaga….:.. all in South of Spain……
My many business trips during my working days to Spain were to Madrid & Barcelona ….. just routine …But these holidays were enjoyable ….the relaxed way … the fun way … the SEEGOS way.
