And for a Friday returning from my favourite city Pune, some thoughts….. some musings…..
I always have very fond nostalgia for Pune where I had spent all my childhood and early years of collegiate at the Ferguson college. So an invitation to meet up with some of my colleagues from Searle India, where I had led the Agro division (1988-96) was a huge bonus. The love, warmth and caring that my former colleagues bestowed, including presenting a beautifully worded “Roll of Honour”, truly touched my heart. Considering it’s almost three decades, in which time the company no longer exists, each of the participants are now in different stations in life. Some well into retirement, some are Agri Entrepreneurs and some working for different companies. Yet the bonds of comradeship built in the period 1988-96 were so strong that we all enjoyed the time together, reminiscing and laughing at so many incidents. Human bondage and love have no time limits.
Pune, previously known as Poona, is Western India’s second largest city. Apart from a big Cantonment and some outstanding army iconic institutions like AFMC, ASPT, Army Sports Institute and The National Defense Academy (NDA), the city is well known for its acclaimed educational institutions; attracting students not only from all over India but from many developing and friendly countries too. And is really the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Historically, Shaniwarvada in the heart of the city is a fort which reminds of the then power of the Maratha Empire. Exetending from Kabul in North to Tanjore in the South and Kutch in Western India to Bengal in the East, Marathas were the most valiant warriors of those times.
India is truly blessed to have so many cities, towns and villages where each has a story so unique. Let us enjoy the travels, enjoy the diversity, the loving way, the endearing way, the SEEGOS way.
