And for a Friday in Hyderabad after a Potentially Game changing Legislation in India….. some thoughts…..

The Lok Sabha passed the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill with a voice vote – Deccan Herald
It’s been quite a while since both the Ruling Party and Opposition have come together and unanimously passed, both in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment ) Bill 2018 on 19th and 24 th July. Don’t get cynical and say ‘what can I do’. You and I can do a lot and we must do.
I recall the Supreme Court Judgement in the Jayalalitha Case.
Quote “Corruption is a vice of insatiable avarice for self-aggrandisement by the unscrupulous, taking unfair advantage of their Power and Authority backed by miniatory loyalists. This pernicious menace forges an unfair advantage of the dishonest over the principled. This has a demoralising bearing on those who are honest, ethical, upright and Enterprising” Unquote.
The Supreme Court beseeches every Citizen to be a partner in the sacrosanct mission to free Civil Society from the suffocative throttle of this deadly affliction – Corruption.
This new Legislation has the Potential to change India. Honest Govt Servants can no longer be victimised. Section 13(1) (d) has been dropped and sleazy agents, Brokers, Fixers and Bribe givers – beware. Section 8 and 9 have been amended. The Bribe giver is now equally criminalised. The MD/Partner/Owner of the bribe giving firm can cool his heels for seven years with other criminals in jail. Fantastic development provided we, the honest tax paying citizen, act.
Now each one of us can play a role to stem corruption, but we must not be afraid. We must not be complacent. Let us resolve to take one step forward and fight the menace of corruption. Let us build a clean India, the legal way, the Ethical way, the SEEGOS way.
