And for a Friday arriving into Germany for the Indo-German Delegation, after a hiatus of 3 Covid impacted years, some thoughts….. some musings…..

Travelling abroad now. What a relief!! No more PCPR tests, no confusion of the innumerable certificates and online authentication, including the Arogya Setu app. Now all those are a distant nightmare, bad dream gone by. Fortunate to get a brand new Boeing 747 Lufthansa Jumbo. Very comfy and pleasant trip. Must confess, taking the first intercontinental flight particularly after all those Covid influenced anxieties and concerns, made planning the travel rather apprehensive. But once the flight was boarded, it was all smooth sailing. Frankfurt Airport looked just the same. Bustling, busy, always under expansion, restoration and maintenance, yet symbolises typical German efficiency.
First leg of the trip this time is more a relaxed weekend in small town Germany, kind courtesy our Niece settled here. With her local expertise and language proficiency, we are enjoying the quaint lovely Oberwessel, a city of just over 3500 people in the middle Rhine Valley. A historic city from the Roman times, it’s referred to as town of Towers and Wine. With its half-timbered medieval buildings and the famous wine growing areas across both sides of the Rhine valley, some of the best Reisling white wines come from the many small but unique wineries of the area. Particularly, due the delineated vineyard sites which offer optimal growing condition for the grapes, enable produce the best quality wines. It’s been fun. Enjoying the wine tasting, wine tours and gourmet foods.
Revisiting Germany always reminds of the great potential of cooperation between our two countries for mutual growth, the democratic way, the sustainable way, the SEEGOS way.
