And for a Friday in Alleppey, attending 80th birthday of a dear Friend….. some thoughts….. some musings……

Alleppey is locally marketed as Venice of Asia….. Headquarters of the Canal systems in Kerala….. the Ramada hotel is very well located….. right at the Edge of the Punnamada backwaters is ideal….. the place where the famous Annual Nehru Cup Boat Race Ends….. during Onam….. to enjoy the scenic beauty….. Kerala is almost back on its feet after the floods. Pray more Tourists come and build the economy.

Verghese – my friend of more than four decades….. what a selfless Human being!!! For his Satabhisekam, his Siblings, close relatives, nephews and nieces and friends came from across the Globe. At 80 it shows the legacy of the person….. the Web of love and affection, the Institutions he has created, the innumerable families in Nigeria and India that he has Impacted. But most striking is his humility, simplicity and his conviction to help people at all times without expecting anything in return. My Salams. May there be more Indians like him.

India talks of Demographic dividends due to the Millennials – those below 35. But another great class is those who are crossing 64 – the Aged. India has more than 109 million people above 64. We must ensure there is a Social role and recognition. Its a great resource to use their creative knowledge and uninhibited free time. Let’s all work together to build a Vibrant India, the Inclusive way, the Ethical way, the SEEGOS way.
