And for an early Friday in Mexico some thoughts….. some musings…..
Well wishers in US dissuaded us from coming to Mexico – Crime, Violence, Phonesnatchers, etc. etc. Having lived in Mumbai, anybody who has travelled Mumbai suburban local and alighted at Dadar or boarded at VT with all his limbs and possessions safe, then, no city can be a challenge. Certified to survive anywhere in the World, Mexico is as safe as any big city can be. She is lively, developed and action oriented. Most importantly, Mexicans love Indians and are very endearing and helpful.
Don’t be carried away by American Media blitz. Mexico is almost a Developed Nation. It’s per capita is 8 times of India, is the Worlds largest producer of Silver, is an Oil exporter, is the highest producer of clean Energy (Wind Energy) and the largest exporter of Beer worldwide. And Food….. well it is Gastronomy of Excellence. Many chefs and Restaurents in Top rankings of the World. Easy reckoner….. Salsas – Chutneys : Tortillo – Chappatis : Mexican Redrice – Vegetable Pulao : Mole – Chicken curry.
Mexico and India suffer great social inequality. About 10% of the population in both countries are below Poverty line. Unskilled labour earns Rs 560 a day in Mexico City and across the border in US its Rs 7000 (at today exchange rate). No Wall can stop the poor from migrating. But, both India and Mexico have the resources and can eliminate poverty by better Governance and annihilating Corruption. Let’s all support a mutually beneficial partnership, the Ethical way, the Corruption Free way, the SEEGOS way.
