And for a Friday as World holds its breath for the US results, from serene, Nature endowed, Evolve Back Kuruba Safari Lodge, some thoughts….. some musings…..
First things first. After 8 months of isolation, almost confined to my Apartment with all meetings thru MS teams, Zoom and Cisco WebEx, WFH meant almost no human contact. All virtual. My Mumbai grandkids too constrained in their flats. It is now great that Chandrans could take the Diwali break in this lovely wildlife sanctuary, 5 hours drive from Bangalore. There is nothing better than the cacophony of the kids, cuddling the babies, using the private swimming pool, being in embrace of the family but being aware that the Virus is lurking. So masks a must, no going to crowded place and all safety measures.
This US election is like no other. The World is on tenterhooks awaiting the final outcome, as it impacts not just the US but every conflict zone and every nation in the planet. US now is completely polarised. Trump and Biden represent almost opposite viewpoints and conflicting constituents towards India though thru decades. US foreign and defense policy has hewed to a bipartisan consensus with relatively minor differences between Republican and Democratic parties. Japan, East Asia, Europe and China had all received the benevolence of US post World war 2 – Marshall’s agreement and many many great offerings. India never got any freebies. She had to pay for and acquire all her Defense and Development needs either from Russia or Western allies, all at costs. Growth in the unique Indian Jugaad way. But the country has always maintained her independence. Post COVID, as and when normalcy returns, the World will be different. India will have a much bigger role. The “Elephant in the room” – China and world terrorism drives US and India closer to ensure a sustainable World promoting individual dignity and freedom.
Whoever wins in US, let’s celebrate Diwali the safe way, the caring way, the SEEGOS way. HAPPY DIWALI…..
