And for a Friday arriving into Japan for a family Diwali Get Together, some thoughts….. some musings…..

Post Covid, overseas travels by Indians has increased multi fold. Whilst cities in US, UK, major European destinations and ofcourse Singapore, Thailand and Dubai are most favourite. Japan, somehow has not attracted as many Indians inspite of the excellent flight connections and extremely friendly and cordial Travel Visa systems of the Japanese Consulates in India. For those filing tax returns and sufficiently well-off, the consulates offer a three year multiple entry visa. Both ANA which operates from Mumbai and JAL from Bangalore are efficient and unlike the measly European airlines, they allow two pieces of checked-in 23 kgs for Economy and 30 for business class. Very comfy timings too.
I love being in Japan. Been privileged to have been nominated for a one year management course in the early 80ies. Those days Japanese Economy was a miracle. Unique management styles, particularly their “Group Decision Making” systems, quality circles and very evolved HR policies were well recognised and globally dominant. However, in the last two decades, there has been an economy erosion, though still undoubtedly the most developed nation in Asia and miles ahead of China in per capita and overall global recognition. Notwithstanding all that, what has most impressed me, the Japanese are truly the most culturally evolved. Very polite and with an unbelievable sense of environment protection, cleanliness and hygiene, worth emulating by every country particularly we in India.
Every country has its own unique characteristics and strengths. Let’s imbibe the best from all, keeping our surroundings litter free and clean the Japanese way, the politely efficient way, the SEEGOS way.
