And for a Friday in Japan, revisiting some of the landmarks, interacting with people, some thoughts….. some musings…..
Japan is unique in so many ways. The most urbanised Country in the World and ofcourse Tokyo is the biggest city of them all. But every city in Japan has developed with modern amenities and skyscrapers. Public transportation is so well developed that average middle class need not own their cars. Metro and train connections are simply superb. Each city, town and village maintains its special characteristics, it’s natural ambience and local festivities round the year. In some part or other, there is a big festival attracting global tourists mostly from the developed world. I was impressed to be taken around the newest construction, the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower. It’s not only the tallest skyscraper in Tokyo, but the entire project has successfully created a Modern Urban Village in the heart of Tokyo based on two principles. Greenery and wellness of citizens. Lush green surroundings will have offices, residences, restaurants, retail stores, cultural centres as well as a large international school. This humongous project was discussed and consented with all stake holders over a long period. But once decided, true to Japanese efficiency, the project started in August 2019 and is all ready to be inaugurated in November 2023. Absolutely marvelous. An excellent model for all mega cities world over.
The long friendly Indo-Japanese relationships had not led to any major investments in India so far. But it is changing. The cosying up friendliness in US-India relationship, post the US-China stand off, the Taiwan-China Threat and the need for “China plus” strategy, will bring fresh opportunities for India. But it’s not going to be easy. Our Politicians must change their outlook to make India a Developed Nation. It needs long term vision, public infrastructure, law and order and fair trade labour laws. Not the current one sided “Communism oriented” antiquated laws which means no productivity and/or Goondaism and Corruption at the discretion of politicians. Ofcourse thanks to India’s Youth Power, Digitalisation and the sheer Entrepreneurial spirits of Indians, We will reach our goals inspite of our politicians and corrupt sleazy businessmen.
Japan is by far the ultimate a country can reach in Social, Economic and Cultural superiority. Let’s emulate, the Indian way, the honest way, the SEEGOS way.
