And for a Friday with two Election Results, one in Patna other in Washington, some thoughts….. some musings…..

Special prayers at Shri Dharma Sastha Temple in Kamala Harris’ ancestral village,
Thulasendrapuram in Tiruvallur Dist. of Tamilnadu.
“Annadanam” was with Kamala’s favourite dish – Idlis…..

Bihar, one of the poorest states of India went to Polls. Elections were neck to neck. Winning combine – NDA got 15.70 million votes and loosing MGB got 15.68 mn. In some constituencies the margin were razor thin, the lowest being 12 votes in Hilsa assembly seat, demonstrating what technological and system perfection the Indian Election Commission has developed over the years. Electronic Voting Machines, paper trails, postal ballots scrutiny, polling in most difficult and tough hinterlands recently devastated by floods….. completely peaceful with adequate police protection. In the end Democracy wins. The new cabinet will be sworn in after Diwali and hats off to old war horse, the iconic Lallu Prasad Yadav, the man who ruled Bihar for 15 years, now behind bars in the infamous fodder corruption charges. But his influence and hold on the poor, the backward castes and masses in Bihar still intact notwithstanding any Democratic systems won emphatically in Bihar, India.

In USA, Elections are also over but the Winners Joe Biden the President elect and Kamala Harris the VP-elect are on tenterhooks. The incumbent President challenges the election process, digging holes with alleged wrongdoings, system failures, physical paper voting with archaic procedures. Anyway that’s an internal US matter. But the world has accepted the results. India was one of the earliest felicitators after only UK and Ireland (Biden’s ancestral homeland). But China and Russia refuse to recognise. That’s their problem. PM Modi’s warm message to Kamala Harris “Your success is pathbreaking, a matter of pride not just for your Chittis, but also for all Indian-Americans.” – Chittis ( Mother’s sisters in Tamil language).

No matter what problems crop up, only Democracies have that incredible potential to recalibrate to the people’s aspirations. Imagine MGB’s CM candidate – Tejaswi Yadav, Lallu’s 31 year old son, led his party – RJD, to become the single largest party in Bihar. Core Message – Kamai, Padai, Dawai and Sichai ( Livelihood, Education , Medicines and Irrigation ). Let’s all support development of the underprivileged, the Democratic way, the Ethical way, the SEEGOS way.
