Automatic Machine Makes 10,000 Chapatis Per Hour
BOSCH and Akshay Patra, Two Organisations I admire. BOSCH – the giant German MNC in India supporting Social causes, Sustainable, Specific and Scalable. Akshaya Patra operates the Worlds largest NGO run School lunch Programme. 16.6 lakh children served with hot freshly cooked food every School day in 13,800 schools.
Started in 2000 with just 1500 meals but with a Noble Mission. “No child in India should be deprived of Education due to Hunger” – such a simple statement but how deep & Meaningful. Parents sent kids to school only because they don’t have to feed them. Often the girl child brings the younger siblings along….. she knows what hunger is.
The facility in Jigani is a classic Public-Private partnership. Govt of Karnataka with the land, BOSCH the Engineering, plant set up, the Automatic Machinery etc. and Akshay Patra the food, Cooking, Logistics and school coordination. Feeding capacity of 40,0000 meals every day, Auto machines for 20 kgs of Potatoes peeled every cycle, 2500 litres of Rice, 3000 litres of Sambar and 10,000 Chapatis per hour. Cooking starts after 7 am, distributed by 11 and lunch at schools 12.30-1.00 pm. Fantastic Logistics Management…..
