And for a Diwali Friday, amidst all the fun, laughter, booze & Diyas & much reduced sound crackers…. some thoughts….

Diwali Sweets

Diwali Sweets

Diwali is a Pan India Hindu festival, the biggest in North, as compared to the rest of India. Pooja is bigger in Bengal, Onam in Kerala, Dussera in Karnataka but no matter what, kids enjoy the fun, new clothes, sweets, Sweets and more Sweets.

Diwali is the Mother of all “Swachh Bharat, Clean India” campaigns. Every office and home is “spring-cleaned”! All not used footwear, school bags, toys, clothes etc. are donated thru various agencies. Thanks to technology, you can locate agencies closest to your home. How nice…. you enjoy and share the enjoyment with the poor, needy and less privileged.

Givng away and philanthropy…. I was so proud that somebody I always admired, Azim Premji won the Carnegie Philanthropy Award for 2017. How richly deserved and befitting the Carnegie Vision for people who have done Real and Permanent good…. Premji Foundation in the field of Education.

My friend Azim…. his acceptance speech was typical of him…. very modest, low key, full of meaning…. his Medical Doctor Mother, his biggest inspiration. Wealth, he says is a Trusteeship, is not Ownership and happiness is in giving away wealth and sharing. May more Rich Industialists, Politicians, Diamond Merchants, Exporters, Gold Tycoons and other Indians follow his footsteps.

Diwali is all about Money….. linked to Lakshmi….. the supreme Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity. There is nothing wrong in wanting to be rich. How you become is important. From this Diwali let Light triumph over Darkness and Transparency over Corruption. Let us build a Rich India…. the Ethical way…. the legal way….. the SEEGOS way.
