Every year India observes a Vigilance awareness week to promote Integrity , transparency, accountability & to combat Corruption ……sporadic campaigns & events held particularly by PSUs & GOI to take the Integrity pledge ……every citizen & Govt official pledges to not take or give any bribe…..to follow probity in Public life & to follow the rule of law ……”if wishes were horses …. Beggars could ride it “……. Looking at the wide spread acceptance of Corruption inspite of more than 78 years of Independence , we continue to be saddled with the colonial era bureaucracy, administrative framework , work culture & Babudom which encourages the “Mai-Baap” , “ Chalta hai“ ….”We Indians are like that only”…… attitude ……tremendous amount of lip service & tomtomimg is done by those in opposition against the politicians in Power …… when voted out the erstwhile in Power now in Opposition have the same slogans…… but nothing happens to Corruption …..Ofcourse there are laws & institutions….CVC , State Lok Ayukts , Compliance officers etcetc, … & after the huge “ All India” uprise against Corruption led by Anna Hazare laws were amended & a very high level Lokpal was appointed with very wide publicity & fanfare ……outcome in curbing Corruption……still awaited …..
Mere pledges & slogans have no meaning …..Professionals be it from the Policy makers in Govt. from Judiciary , Media, Corporates , Bankers, Honest Politicians etcetc….. we the Honest law abiding citizens draw our strength from the Indian Constitution . We are the Trustees of the Nation’s Assets & Capital , we mediate Public savings into Credit, Pay taxes , help build infrastructure , reduce poverty & drive the Nation’s growth …..we the Honest Professionals of the Indian Republic must empower ourselves to develop Network mechanisms using Modern Technology &Social Media to fight Corruption at all levels ……. It’s not going to be easy …. Corruption particularly the Coercive Corruption wherein Babudom uses State Power against the powerless victim affecting the Poor , marginalised & helpless citizens must be curbed ……. Collaborative Corruption exists all over … even ….in the Developed World ….. but to get our lowest rung 200 million poorer Indians out of Poverty we must eliminate Coercive Corruption ……each one of us can’t just blame politicians & the system … this Vigilance week let’s respond to “ What one step will I take to fight Corruption “ …….
India as the fourth largest Economy must eliminate Poverty at all costs ….. only condition needed ..eliminate Coercive Corruption & promote Good Governance ….. the involved way ….. the sustainable way …. the SEEGOS way.
