And for a Friday in Thiruvananthapuram, some thoughts….. some musings…..
Every Mumbaikar has a “Gaon” i.e. Village from which he/she originates. My “Gaon” is TVM. Ofcourse it’s not any village. She is the capital city of Kerala with a population of over three million people. A beautiful quaint green city, very well connected by air, rail, roads and waterways. And now, one of the biggest deep water, all weather ports with probably the biggest international container transshipment opportunities; not to forget the abode of Lord Anantha at the now world famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple whose collection of exquisite gold, jewelry, diamonds and precious stones is probably the biggest haul of wealth in one place.
Trivandrum, the shorter version of the city name, recently saw one of the most actively watched contests for the Lok Sabha elections. The sitting MP Dr. Tharoor vs The challenger Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Ofcourse no one in this city is willing to bet on who the winner will be. But come June 4, one will be a winner. But I ardently pray and hope that irrespective of of who wins, both work together with the State Govt to complete at the fastest, Thiruvananthapuram Smart City. This city deserves the best inputs and support of all politicians to achieve the Vision of Trivandrum, SMART CITY Vision. A vibrant and alluring capital city that is inclusive, safe, accessible and which respects the natural environment and celebrates its heritage and culture.
As of today, the entire city is dug up and the unseasonal rain has made it worse. No pain – No gain. Today it’s pain and pain and more pain. But let’s pray the Smart City will come up fastest, the well planned way, the ethical way, the SEEGOS way.
