A shockingly pleasant surprise for India’s economic well being has been the sharp fall of crude prices to below 72$s …price prevalent before the Middle East conflict ….:honestly apart from Oil …..India is bestowed with all of Natures bounties …Fertile soil … long coastline … ability to grow all kinds of food , fruits , horticulture & fibre crops …a young population craving to succeed in life …. with ….”Fire in their Belly “ a fantastic world class …Value for Money ….Digital infrastructure Stack which even most developed countries are envious ……. then …what’s holding the Country down ……. Based on my four decades of Corporate life ….my personal RCA ( Root Cause Analysis) conclusion ……the single most important factor is ……. CORRUPTION……sleazy business … democracy ….Elections ….Politics ….,Money…..are all linked in a well protected … cosy …circular- economy ……
Election outcomes & Politics may or may not be predictable…… but seldom does Miracles happen …… the Tamil Nadu elections in May was undoubtedly one big Miracle …… imagine a rank outsider…. absolutely no Political leanings ….. with almost zero Cash use …… steamrolls & powers more than 100 first time candidates as elected legislators …..35% vote share with more than 26 mn votes from all religions .. all sectors & all parts of the state ….. based only on his own charisma … clean image & singular Star Appeal …… he dislodged the most entrenched Dravidian political parties into oblivion …..:most importantly he has promised & is attempting to set new benchmarks in administrative transparency & governance ….a multi pronged anti corruption strategy is launched ….. a 24×7 toll free direct channel to his office ….with a reward of one lakh rupees to citizens who provide video or audio evidence of Govt employees demanding bribes …..he has immediately installed On-Line tendering system eliminating cartalisation , rigged bids & commission based contract award ….:,PWD contractors are already quoting 25-30% lower rates for all Civil works & contracts ….::Ofcourse ….these are early days ….. but let us all hope & pray he succeeds …..it could be the harbinger of a National renaissance …..
Nothing is easily done …. but callous indifference & or a shared sense of helplessness is of no use ….. let us all resolve to fight corruption the involved way ….. the ethical way …. the SEEGOS way.
