And for a Friday in the pristine lush green forests of Kabini …… some thoughts … some musings ……..

Kabini is about 5 hours beautiful drive via the new NICE road ( it’s the name of the lovely new road stretch ) & Mysore Expressway ……. from any hotel or the BBD area of Bangalore ……to the Kabini National Reserve Forests ….. home to the big 5 plus a host of other animals , birds & many species which are almost extinct ……..thankfully the Karnataka Govt has restricted the number of tourists to ensure Human -Animal conflicts are minimised ……. No matter which private luxury resort you stay …. Entry & conducted Road & Boat Safari is only thru the Govt controlled Jungle Resort organisation ……. this ensures the limitation on the tourists as well as controlling the timings & ensuring no plastics or waste is generated by any private vehicles ….. kudos to the Forest department.
It’s very important to travel to the Indian forests & tourist places as compared to travel abroad ….. to truly appreciate the need to keep our environment clean & understand the real perils of the drastic & terrible impact of climate change on India ……..our Forest guide & Naturalist -Mr. Chamraj beautifully explained …… home to Asia’s largest rnumber of Elephants also houses cheetahs , Tigers , Leopards, spotted Deer & many more animals as also more than 3000 species of birds ……. The need to preserve forests from encroachment ……..one mature elephant needs on average 200 litres of fresh water & about 160 -200 kgs of Grass greens & roughage ……they are strict vegetarians( herbivores) ….they spend 14-18 hours per day grazing & browsing across these forests ….. which extends about 5600 sq kms from Kabini in Karnataka to Waynad in Kerala & into Tamilnadu ……. Animals , rivers , Mountains know on boundaries ….. no divisions ….. nature at its best ……
Let’s all support local tourism … let’s participate in all measures to prevent Climate change & Human-Animal conflict ….. the humane way …. the sustainable way …. the SEEGOS way.
