And for a Friday, as G20 meeting deliberates on Corruption and most Indians are not even aware, some thoughts….. some musings…..

Delegates from 39 countries and 9 International Organisations are currently meeting in Gurugram as the Anti Corruption Sub-Group of G-20, to deliberate on measures to fight corruption and further develop an international framework to combat corruption effectively. What an irony that each of these 20 countries are to be the Ikons and set examples for the rest of the 190 countries to follow. India as the host country is the chair and Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister I/c of PMO in addition to Personnel and various other ministries, is leading the Indian delegation. Not surprising that there is hardly any press or social media coverage of this very critical area of the SDG goal 16.5 whose defined objective is to reduce Corruption and Bribery in all its forms. Most of us have become so immune to Corruption, we either accept it as inevitable or feel helpless and give in.
A RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of why India is still a developing country, inspite if it’s natural resources – young population, tech saviness and global presence of talented Countrymen who are all very successful in their chosen fields. The one and only answer is the rampant corruption at the state and lower levels of bureaucracy, which particularly impacts the poor and marginalised societies. Whilst forums like G20 will develop framework based on Information sharing, technology and international harmonisation of laws, every citizen, particularly the middle class and the retired professionals, must play an active role to curb corrupt practices. Pointing fingers at politicians is of no use. Each citizen must play his or her role based on individual capacity, inclination and affordable time. SEEGOS could provide the platform for those who want to volunteer.
Many initiatives, particularly the DBT – Direct Benefit Transfer of subsidies to the bank accounts of the lady member of the family is a huge success. Let’s all support every measure to fight corruption, the involved way, the legal way, the SEEGOS way.
