And for a Friday, bang in the middle of the Vigilance Awareness Week, some thoughts….. some musings…..

There are a large number of honest Bureaucrats, Corporate Professionals, Good Citizens and Politicians who will help India become a 5 Trn $ economy in the next few years by reducing poverty and corruption.

This initiative of Vigilance Week conceptualised in early 2000’s by my friend N. Vithal who was then the CVC ( Chief Vigilance Commissioner ), has now morphed into another slogan mongering MAFA ( Mistaking Activities for Action). Just a ritual every year, mostly by PSUs, Central Govt Depts and some state Govt agencies. Empty slogans and pledges prompted by the CVC website. Nobody cares or monitors these activities to study efficiency or output in reducing or improving the systems to fight corruption. Under the amended Prevention of Corruption Act 2018, section 17A(1), now requires approval of the appointing authority to even begin any investigation and most departments just don’t care and withhold such approvals. It’s a huge issue. The PM in his directions to CVC yesterday, has warned against such delays. He beseeches citizens to be active and ensure that, Quote “No corrupt person gets political or social refuge” Unquote. Let’s hope and pray these directions get converted to actions thru Rules and Procedures.

Let’s face it. Democracy needs Politicians. Politicians need to get to Power by any and all means. Hence the Money power and Corruption. It’s a vicious cycle and can only be curtailed by the informed and honest tax paying middle class Indians. COLLABORATIVE corruption between the powerful in business and Govt is very difficult to tackle everywhere in the world. So it is in India. It’s the COERCIVE corruption by the Powerful Govt Babu/Politician against the vulnerable that must and can be curtailed by civil action. SEEGOS is a platform for such action. SEEGOS believes a Million Indians from all walks of life can get together on a virtual platform as a Non-political, Non-Religious, Amoebic Organisation to fight corruption and promote Good Governance.

It’s time each one of us get involved in Nation building within our own capabilities. However small steps we can take, let’s be active, the honest way, the transparent way, the SEEGOS way.
