To SIR with love …. was a poignant thriller of my times in late sixties……..and for a Friday as another S.I.R . creates a National Storm…..some thoughts …..some musings …..
S.I.R – Special Intensive Revision……. as originally announced by the Election Commission & understood by all was a very normal laudable necessary Electoral exercise to delete the dead ….. remove duplicates if any ….illegal migrants ….. or fake voters …. ECI mandate was to ensure that every valid citizen could get to vote in his/her constituency ……however as the exercise unfolded across the country more than 130 mn voters got excluded by the software ……. It is alleged that the ECI which is headed by Mr. Gyanesh Kumar as CEC & Mr. Sandhu & Mr. Joshi as ECs had made major changes to the processes by which people are added or removed from Electoral Rolls , changes to voter registration & access to to the computer centres catering to hundred of millions of voters …….. consequent to the uproar many modifications & correctives are coming into force & the Supreme Court is now seized of the matter ……
My own case …… my family have been registered voters at the Malabar Hill constituency in Mumbai ….voting at the New Activity School for more than four decades in various elections …… on moving to Bangalore we completed all formalities …. had new Election cards issued by the Election Commission of India with Bangalore address & Epic numbers…..& even had our polling booth allocated near our residence at Langford Gardens …..close to Bangalore Club ….: out of the blue the BLO ( Booth Level Officer ) turned up with a notice in Kannada …..our names are excluded due logical discrepancies ….. we are summoned to appear before some Babu within two days otherwise we will be permanently removed from Voter list ……Ooopps!!! ….. we showed & try to. Convince him with our ECI card , Passport . Aadhar , Pan Card ……. BLO says nothing doing ……appear before the Babu …. or Else …….for every Indian it is a must to get the fundamental voting right enforced & the name included in the Voters list …. as this is the only VALID proof of Indian citizenship now ….passports in India are no longer proof of citizenship ……
Let’s hope this confusion will also be resolved ….. the amicable way …. the legal way …. the SEEGOS way.
