Time & Tide wait for no man….. irrespective of all the care & precautions …. as age advances different parts of the body call out & claim attention …… none like the Eyes ….. most people post their sixties start with blurred vision …. leading to the need for Cataract surgery to restore better vision …..my right eye was set right in 2018 when the left was not ready yet ….. these days most doctors advise senior citizens not to wait till the natural lens hardens ….. they advise earlier cataract & preferably both eyes together or within a week …… I beg to differ……. my philosophy ………keep the natural God given parts …..as long as possible …. Surgeon’s scalpel ….. last resort …..
At Nethradhama as in most Superspeciality Eye Hospitals , Cataract Surgery is akin to a Production line ….. absolutely well oiled & meticulously time & resources managed ……. First visit all eye tests … scan .. insurance documentation….. second visit …medical health tests ECG & date of surgery fixed with chosen Ophthalmologist ….. & lo &behold on the appointed day ……,your are prepared ….briefed ….whisked in … & 12-15 minutes later …. Out with the dark glasses …..it’s almost automated …. as you exit the OT the next patient is wheeled in ….. understand some of these well known surgeons do 15 to 20 operations per day …… & getting appointments with them is not a walk-over ……
Eyes & Eyesight are undoubtedly natures marvels ….. & let us all pledge to donate our eyes ….. ensuring our eyes remain useful long after our times ….. the meaningful way ….. the endearing way ….. the SEEGOS way.
