Jantar Mantar in Delhi may have grabbed Headlines & TV coverage but GenZ – Boys& Girls…. Men & Women from 14 years to say 29 were seen impromptu out on the streets from Srinagar to Trivandrum …. Kolkatta to Mumbai & most cities across …….this GenZ who suffered the pangs of COVID ……embraced Remote home…. study /work /entertainment/……. becoming Digital natives….. with encouragement of their Parents & Seniors ….have a Tech -first ….Rapid feedback approach ….. with attention spans in seconds & minutes ….. hence vocal …fearless & sometimes sounding totally non-reverential to hierarchies …. but strongly rooted to basic values of Diversity , Sustainability & Authenticity ………whilst politicians may selectively interpret in their own ways …… paper leak is just the tip of the iceberg …. It’s more of unemployment ; under-employment ; job-security & impending fear of AI related huge cuts in entry level white collar jobs ….. It’s the cumulative effect of autonomous private Universities & Institutions charging exorbitant fees & churning out Graduates & post graduates with no upgradation of Employable skills & Competencies …..
Whilst the Nandan Nilekani led committee may sort the paper leak issues ….. those are only the symptoms …. solutions are needed to expand the job market multi fold…. absorb the huge pipeline of millions entering the job markets at different skill levels ……. hence Policy makers have to consider meaningful measures for mass employment …….here are some possibilities …. Tourism sector … Priority one : give this sector an “Industry status” …. So loans … infra & other benefits can be claimed by Entrepreneurs from Centre & states ……New investors in every temple town , every District HQrs , & many areas of medical & Adventure tourism will open out ….. creating millions of jobs across the county in the next 24 months …… Agriculture needs a huge push ….. not subsidies & free power, water & write offs ….. these have short term Political payoffs …… but long term Agri investment to promote Agri tech ….. modernise farming ….massively invest into FPOs ( Farmer Producer Organisation) ….. young Agripreneurs have to be encouraged across rural India sparking innovation & value addition to Agriculture …… next is MSME …. more than 75 mn MSMEs account for employment of more than 300 mn people …..a very high level committee must see the bottlenecks & corruption issues faced by this sector ….. this sector is the biggest catalyst for employment …..
India is at the cusp of a breakaway growth …… GDP growth must translate to overall prosperity to the average Indian …..let’s all work towards that goal ….. in a sustained way ….. in a caring way …. the SEEGOS way.
