And for a Friday …… a new release of a class 8 Social studies Text book by NCERT stirs …… a national debate on Corruption …….. some thoughts ….. some musings…..

There is no denying that Corruption is the “Elephant in the Room” which is slowing down India’s progress to wipe out Poverty & create a more egalitarian society …… this is one subject everyone recognises & talks in private but is in complete denial when confronted ….. the current controversy though is misplaced & the Honourable CJI is absolutely right in taking cognisance on a Suo moto basis & asking the Govt to withdraw the chapter containing portions re “corruptions in judiciary” .The CJI has taken exception to the “ selective” reference as an attempt to denigrate the Institution …..there is no doubt in the country that most High Courts & the Supreme Court have always largely enjoyed public faith & confidence ……..
Corruption is so deep rooted that each of us will have innumerable anecdotes & frustrating experiences to recall….. quite often one is angry but almost seemingly helpless …..: The Honourable Supreme Court in the famous Jayalalitha case , then had observed…….. “Corruption is a vice of insatiable avarice for self aggrandisement by the unscrupulous, taking advantage of the Power & Authority backed by minatory loyalists” …….let us not run away from facts ….. corruption exists at different levels in most spheres …..Politics , Bureaucracy , Business etcetc …..:. So we really need to sensitise our young next generation …… we need to bring in chapters in classes 8 to 10 in the formative years on positively building a society like in Japan, based on mutual respect ….. of Good Governance in all walks of life …. on being socially conscious …. on cleanliness & ethical behaviour …… children should be exposed to principles of Sadhbhavna to ensure every child develops as a good responsible citizen concerned about making India a developed Nation …..
Let’s all participate in this debate positively … with definitive first steps to curb corruption & bribery in all its forms ….. the involved way ….. the sustainable way …. the SEEGOS way.
