It was my privilege to be invited to the Smartchem 2026 International Conference to celebrate 100 years of the Chemistry Department of St. Joseph’s University which coincided with National Start-up day ….…….. Smartchem 2026 was an Industry-Academia Interaction Initiative enabling a convergence of Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, Nanomaterials & Sustainability with a galaxy of renowned Scientists, Researchers & Industry experts ……..Prof. Dr. Rajnish Kumar of IIT Madras was the Chief Guest ……….:it has been my endevour to support & popularise Chemistry ……. During my BASF days we had executed a mammoth project of running a Science Express with the “ Kids Lab” chemistry ……..the special train travelled across India … Delhi to Kolkata to Trivandrum to Mumbai & back to Delhi with hundreds of stops ……an opportunity for school students across the country to do hands -on chemistry experiments …… an unbelievable national success …….. a collaborative project of Max Planck Institute of Germany , Indian Railways & BASF …….
National Start -Up day is celebrated on 16th January every year …. an excellent initiative to support Entrepreneurship……strengthen the Research oriented Startup ecosystem which encourages Young Indians to shift from being Job seekers to Job Givers ….. it is very encouraging to see Universities & Industry getting together with support from Central & State Governments …… The Department of Industry & Internal Trade ( DPIIT) is the nodal agency of GOI …… many support portals are available …. Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Register ( BHASKAR) …..It is reported there are more than two lakh DPIIT recognised Start ups in the country ……ofcourse …. Still lots of areas are ……W-I-P .. work in Progress & young Entrepreneurs must have the resilience to chart the tough Course ….. ….. but India’s future is in its capability to develop knowledge based new businesses …..the incredible Indian way ……meeting the nations ever rising needs & opportunities …..be it fintech …. IT… BFSI ….. Foods & beverages … Health & wellness … Agri tech …. Telemedicine …. Medical & Religious tourism … edutech…. Etcetc …. Opportunities are immense …… each FTA signed opens huge vistas of unique business with that country ……
IMF has revised upwards India’s GDP Growth to 7.3 % from earlier 6.6% …. Let us all support the National Economy …. the involved way …. the sustainable way …. the SEEGOS way.
