And for a Friday ……. an enjoyable event the Walk-A-Thon ..at the new Coastal Worli Promenade Mumbai …. some thoughts ….some musings……
With expressways …& new models of small cars ……. sedans .. SUVs ..Electric , Hybrids … BYDs … & the 20 million two wheelers sold in just last one year …… the cities in the country are already choked ……… add to it the corruption in RTOs ……….driving licenses are “bought-in” with no driving experience & understanding of Road safety or Traffic rules ……. Result… ……India is among the countries with the Highest Road accidents … more than 550 people are killed & 2500 + injured EVERY day across the Roads & Pavements of India …….its high time each one of us …..the Responsible Citizens & every Parent in the country took a steely resolve & a commitment to rectify ….. there is no tomorrow …. It’s today …. It’s NOW…….
PCGT -( Public Concern for Governance Trust ) took upon itself to organise an annual Walkathon for 1000 plus boys & Girls from schools & colleges across Mumbai …….the core message …….”Road Safety”……we were privileged to have three important dignitaries as our Chief Guests ….. the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner – Bhushan Gagarani I.A.S. …. Deven Bharti I.P.S the Mumbai Police Commissioner & Youth ikon Rahul Bose who administered the Road Safety Pledge ……it was a hugely successful Event with the children hopefully taking home the messages to their Parents , Siblings & elder Relatives …… Pl take the pledge( see photo) ……..we need a mass movement to get ourselves out of this CRiSIS ……
With more Roads being constructed & more vehicles being sold year after year …… the only solution is education … Discipline & corruption free enforcement….. let’s all strive to achieve …. the together way …… the committed way ….. the SEEGOS way.
