And for a Friday attending the Global Social Business day coinciding with the Birthday of my friend Dr. Yunus….. some thoughts…..

Dear Friend Nobel laureate Dr. Yunus

I am so fascinated by the energy, the Simplicity, the Humility and the discipline of this young ( only 78 years ) sprightly Global Citizen. Unbelievable, his endearing spirit, noble thoughts and Visionary ideas originating from a Developing Country has no parallels….. simply fantastic.

In his Awe-inspiring opening Speech, he explained his latest concept, Three Zeroes….. Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment and Zero Net Carbon Emissions. He understands the pain points of the Poor and unemployed around the World and warns of the dangers of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and looming job losses.

Dr.Yunus offers an alternative model of Growth – the Social Business Model. I am an ardent supporter. Current Growth Models leads to Inequality caused by continuous Wealth concentration. 1{aff5a224634bf574f692c8c7d068a0713fecca4ea38a30d3005107227dbb12e7} of the Global Population has 99{aff5a224634bf574f692c8c7d068a0713fecca4ea38a30d3005107227dbb12e7} of the wealth. Capital pursues Profitabilty over all other concerns whilst the NGOs sector works on Social causes but has to depend on Charity for Capital. That is not sustainable. Social business is Revenue based like normal. The Business Entrepreneur solves a Social problem offering his Products / Services but unlike an NGO is not dependent on Charity and so Sustainable in the long run. More local Entrepreneurship, more jobs and less unemployment….. reduces poverty.

I could not believe Grameen Japan offers micro-credit to 20 million poor Japanese and Grameen America to 38 Million US citizens who are below poverty. Problems of the poor are the same everywhere. Normal banking and credit facilities are not for the poor. Let’s all support new initiatives and new models of growth. Let’s build a new Equitable India, the Ethical way, the legal way, the SEEGOS way.
