And for a Friday in Mumbai after a happy and sad combo Meeting of PCGT……
PCGT – Public Concern for Governance Trust, is one of my most favourite organisations that I am associated with. Happy, we cut a cake to celebrate our Chairman – Mr. Riberio’s birthday and sad, as one of our Trustees – Dr. Ratna Magotra is relocating out of Mumbai.
PCGT does Yeomen Social service – many projects under four Sectors……
- Corruption Hatayenge – helping the poor and underprivileged from the clutches of the corrupt
- Right to Information – various training programmes by experts on how to use RTI
- Kuch Aur – Moulding ethical behaviour, social cohesiveness for school kids in municipal and other schools
- Youth for Governance – character building
Many of these projects are supported under CSR by Tata Trusts, Citibank, Wipro, Aditya Birla, Infosys and many more benevolent individuals and institutions.
Dr. Magotra is a multifaceted nationalist, an outstanding Medical Practitioner – recently awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons, a Fiction Writer (Matter of Heart) and a Social Worker – some may remember her as the only lady doctor who fasted with Anna Hazare, for more than 10 days, at the peak of the genuine AAP movement against corruption. I will miss her at PCGT!!
India is blessed to have so many Individuals and Institutions who do great Social Service, to help our citizens.
It’s up to each one of us to take part in Nation Building, maybe baby steps but let us build our Nation….. the Ethical way….. the SEEGOS way….
