And for a Friday…. after the Annual cricket Fun – IPL…. has commenced….
Nothing unites India as much as cricket does, played across the country and watched by millions on TV. IPL combines the thrill of Cricket with the razmatazz and glamour of the show world. It is the ultimate “Value for Money” entertainment during these summer days. It’s not been easy, any new initiative will face its ups and downs. But hats off to all those who have overcome each challenge and put together this Annual funfair.
IPL cricket is also lots of good NGOs activities….. each team is involved in some form of help to the underprivileged and needy.
Its pleasing, after the tension of SSC, ISC, JEE Exams are over, cricket teams spring up in every nook and corner. In every Maidan you find multiple local teams using the same grounds. Its a great leveller….. the hutment dweller and the high rise residents….. all play “Galli” cricket!!
Success of IPL has also triggered support to all other games, TV coverage, sponsorships and Social Media…. means, now Football, Hockey and Kabaddi, have huge followings. No wonder the FIFA under-17 Football World Cup is going to be hosted by India from 6th to 28th October, with the finals at the Salt lake stadium in Kolkata.
Sports teach discipline, team work, common goals and above all…. a healthy respect for each other, an attitude to take victory and defeat with a positive spirit and to continuously improve.
We are the largest democracy but too complex, many religions, many languages, many castes, many eco strata, lots of divisive factors…. but sports brings the positives to the fore.
That’s what each one of us needs to do…. be positive…. take up the challenges…. look at every risk as an opportunity…. take baby steps…. to build our economy…. to build our Nation…. the Ethical way…. the SEEGOS way.
