And for a Friday….. following the 68th Republic day….. some thoughts.

The significance of the Republic Day, 26th January 1950…. Constitution of India came into force.

I was so happy to receive for the first time, messages wishing me on Republic day. I had replied to each message… “May this Republic Day further strengthen the unifying forces and may God bless the honest citizens to continue on the ethical path, improving Governance in all walks of life.

republic_dayThere are so many individuals, Philanthropists, Institutions, NGOs and others doing yeomen service to improve the lives of our citizens. I salute all of them.

I am reminded of my friend Ronnie Screwvala and his Swades Foundation. Mission – bring about irreversible changes in the lives of one million people in Rural India in the next five years. Six Verticals chosen…. Community mobilisation, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Dairy, Livelihood, Education, Health and Nutrition. Cheers to You Ronnie!!!

Being truthful, honest and accepting success and failure, are traits that all sports and games instil in our youth. Getting rewards and becoming famous and rich the rightful, legal, truthful way is what we expect from our Sporting Icons.

Hence, I am not too unhappy that Sreesanth was denied an NOC to play in the Scotland Cricket League and hats off to Rahul Dravid, to refuse the honorary doctorate from Bangalore University. Rahul says… he’d rather do some professional research in sports and earn a doctorate!!!

May there be more like Rahul Dravid. May we all resolve this Republic day, to participate in Nation building…. the Ethical way…. the SEEGOS way.
